Chestnut jumping horse original painting by Calgary Artist Shannon Lawlor

24″ x 36″ – acrylic on baltic birch

I photographed Flexible at Thunderbird Horse Park in Langley BC during one of the last competitions in his illustrious career. With hundreds of photos of him jumping, he was best represented while simply looking off into the distance while waiting to go into the ring. I chose to do this painting on a larger scale to capture his soulful eyes and his intense spirit to thrive. This painting went on to be the  face of the historical Hampton Classic Horse Show Poster in New York in 2016. Chosen over 80 artists, Flexible was further immortalized in show jumping history.
