DUCKS UNLIMITED CANADA
The Ducks Unlimited 2019 NATIONAL ART PORTFOLIO is a collection of memorable moments that highlight the importance of Canada’s natural environment to our Canadian lifestyles. Art pieces are selected which are felt to inspire Canadians to reflect on their own experiences in nature and to embrace wetland conservation within their lives.
Shannon Lawlor is one of only eight artists chosen for the 2019 Collection, earning a place in history with her piece entitled Klasa. Lawlor’s equine art traces back to life on the Canadian prairies where she was born and raised in Manitoba and now calls Alberta home. Her work celebrates equine culture and Canada’s truly unique and long-standing relationship with the horse, even in the face of mechanization. You will find Shannon’s work in ranches throughout the Canadian West to the sleekest of office towers, hotels and urban homes where her style and subject matter gives pause to even the most discerning modern art collector.
Ducks Unlimited has been partnering with artists with the National Art Portfolio since 1986. The annually released collection is up for auction with proceeds funding DUC’s conservation work. Canadians can bid on pieces in the collection now at ducks.ca/2019NAP.
Shannon was also a member of the 2018 Ducks Unlimited NATIONAL ART PORTFOLIOteam of artists. Lawlor helped raise important funds for wetland conservation across Canada with her painting ‘AMIGO’,one of 11 pieces selected from hundreds of submissions from artists across the country. DUCKS UNLIMITED CANADA is the leader in wetland conservation and a registered charity. DUC partners with government, industry, non-profit organizations and landowners to conserve wetlands that are critical to waterfowl, wildlife and the environment.
