Long time in the making, Shannon was asked to create the poster for the World Clydesdale Congress due in part to her roots; growing up in a large, influential heavy horse community in Manitoba, Canada. With a sense of giving back to her rooted past and deep appreciation for the heavy horse, Shannon is proud to have her work represent the face of the 2023 World Clydesdale Congress. Hitch gelding, VICTORY, owned by Shannon & Karen Cobbs of Grandview Clydesdales, Ocala, FL was Shannon’s chosen subject matter, as her and Karen grew up not 20 miles apart in Manitoba and have been lifelong friends, with the horse at the fulcrum of their bond.

Dec 7, Shannon Lawlor along with several members of the NYCHA, presented Lot #1 at the Western Bloodstock Horse Sale, and celebrated with the hammer price of $13,500 with 100% of the proceeds going to the National Youth Cutting Horse Association. Going forward we will be sharing the lucky bidder of the commission painting along with details of the projects evolution. THANK YOU to everyone who bid and participated in this successful fundraising event.

IMMORTALIZING THE LEGEND – METALLIC CAT When I reached out to Jay Winborn, Executive Director of the National Cutting Horse Association and shared my goals with him, dialogue began on how to properly align my work with the NCHA as a new Sponsor. With patience at the forefront the opportunity presented itself as the preferred avenue to pursue going forward.
My obligation as an artist and a new Sponsor of the NCHA was to fulfill the tall order of immortalizing the one and only METALLIC CAT, affectionately known as ‘Denver’. Once choice reference photo of Metallic Cat, I set aside all projects at hand and treated this commission painting with as much respect and attention as the individual himself deserves. In the quiet confines of my studio, day after day, layer after layer, one brush stroke at a time, Metallic Cat unfolded himself into this portrait we finally get to share with the world.
The original painting was presented by the NCHA & myself to proud owner, Mr. Bobby Patton during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2021 NCHA Metallic Cat World Championship Futurity, Fort Worth, TX. Dec 11, 2021.
Both professionally and personally, it is my honour to share with you my depiction of this Legendary stallion. And without doubt, one of my greatest honours to date, being chosen to immortalize one of the Industry’s most significant contributors in history.

NATIONAL CUTTING HORSE ASSOCIATION WELCOMES SHANNON LAWLOR FINE ART AS AN EVENT SPONSOR FORT WORTH TEXAS – The National Cutting Horse Association is excited to welcome Shannon Lawlor Fine Art as an official event sponsor of the 2021 NCHA Metallic Cat World Championship Futurity.
“Throughout my eighteen year art career, I have come to embrace many breeds and disciplines within my work,” said Lawlor. “Particularly, our equine athletes performing at a high level, not unlike what is represented within the NCHA family. With this new partnership, my goal is to authentically preserve and promote the longstanding traditions and values of the NCHA, and I look forward to introducing my artwork and offering custom commission paintings to the cutting horse industry.”
